Where is My Remote: Hannibal Lecter coming to TV

News

Hannibal will be on NBC, minus the mask!

NBC

I read a report that despite ordering a full season, NBC may not renew The Firm. It's a shame because I actually did like the first few episodes. NBC did announce that they will move The Firm from it's Thursday night slot to Saturday nights, which is usually a death sentence. If all this is true, it would mean that author John Grisham has another failed television project.

But from one novel to another, NBC is prepared to take a chance on Thomas Harris' gruesome creation, Hannibal. For anyone curious how a show about Hannibal Lecter would work, it will most likely take place before the movie trilogy, establishing the relationship between FBI Agent Will Graham and Dr. Hannibal Lecter. For those who need a refresher, Lecter worked with Graham on several cases, helping him track down numerous serial killers. Eventually, Graham realized his ally was not who he appeared to be, which kicked off the movie Red Dragon.

After seeing a few origin story shows, such as Smallville with the friendship of Clarke Kent and Lex Luthor, this Hannibal story could be very intriguing. I'm just curious to how or if Thomas Harris will be involved. In 30 years, Thomas has only written 5 novels and is known for his painstakingly slow writing pace, so a television project would sound very demanding of him. But, I would feel more comfortable knowing he was attached, even as an adviser.

NBC signed on for a 13 episode run.

Don't expect to see the reboot of The Munsters on NBC for the Fall 2012 schedule.

Comedy Central

Comedy Central has renewed the new sketch comedy show, Key & Peele, for a second season.

FOX

I read a report that Fox may be getting tired of American Dad.

CBS

Johnny Lee Miller will be Sherlock Holmes in a new modern day remake of the character in Elementary. Holmes will be solving crimes in New York City.

Fans of How I Met Your Mother, prepare for some big changes in the near future. What could they be? Executive producer Thomas Craig wouldn't be specific, but as a fan of the show, I want to be surprised.
